Easy Peasy Kitchen Mat

My kitchen is the only room in my house that I haven't painted or renovated in any way.  Just the thought of doing a kitchen overwhelms me instead I just added a new mat to add some colour to the space using my new FolkArt Stencils and Paints, so much easier~

Here's what I got in the mail the other day!

With just some tape, a couple of placemats, a couple of sponge applicators, and some paint sealer, I was set to go.

My placemats had a great border on the edges that I wanted to take advantage of so I lined them up side by side and taped them off.

I also taped the back where the placemats met.

I was about to open the Wicker White paint to use as the backgound when I stopped myself and decided to live dangerously.  Instead I chose these two colours!

The different finishes are really great.
First I painted down a couple of coats of the Fresh Foliage Green.

Once that was dry I tried out the FolkArt Stencil Adhesive.  I love this stuff!  It's not permanent and it keeps all these little detailed areas of the stencil in place while you're painting.

It has a sponge applicator built right into the bottle!
You just need to let the adhesive dry for about 10 minutes and then you can set it in place and start painting.

I've been thinking about making a large dining room rug using stencils so this was great practice for me.  Instead of filling all of the space I added some interest by fading off in some areas.

I love how the pearl finish shines.
If you stare at it long enough you can see green arrows instead of blue!  Do you see it???

Before you put it in place make sure to give it a quick spray of sealer.

FolkArt Stencil 1 offer all sorts of fun designs.  You can see some of them here:
